Healthy and conscious eating; everyone knows it's important, yet we often struggle with it. Good food gives energy, contains vitamins and minerals and is tasty. So when you eat, eat well; fresh, whole and whole grain. Focus on fruit and vegetables and choose local and seasonal products, less meat and responsibly caught or grown fish. In this article we give you some useful tips to live a more conscious and healthier life! Are you reading along?

cook yourself

By cooking yourself, instead of buying a ready meal, you have the most control over what goes into your food. A rule of thumb for a healthy diet is to eat a varied diet at all times. This way you get all the necessary nutrients that your body needs.

Choose pure products

Unprocessed food is 'the key to results'. By this we mean products such as fresh vegetables, fruit and whole grains. As much as possible, buy local, mature products that contain the most nutrients and are unprocessed, preferably organically grown. This gives you a feeling of satiety faster and enough energy to ensure that your engine continues to run without ingesting harmful substances.

Read labels

It is very important to become aware of what the manufacturers put in your food. You will be surprised at how many products are added extra ingredients that do not belong in a healthy diet. Therefore, make sure that you look more closely at the labels, so that you know exactly what you are putting in your body. Do you want to know more about this topic? Then read our blog You should absolutely avoid these ingredients in food.

Snacks

3 meals a day are a good basis to feed your body with all the nutrients. In addition, take a maximum of 4 times something small in between, for example:
  • Raw food, such as cherry tomatoes, cucumber, radish, celery and carrot
  • Fruit, such as banana, apple, orange or grapefruit.
  • Unsalted nuts, such as walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds. Nuts are rich in fat, but of the right kind.
  • A protein shake is a good snack. It gives you a feeling of satiety and you can vary it endlessly. Need inspiration? Then look at our recipes.

meat substitutes

Eat less meat. Your body has more trouble digesting meat than with plant-based foods. If you do eat meat, do so in moderation. A small portion of organic meat (about 75 grams) twice a week is sufficient to get the right nutrients. Moreover, it is also better for the animals and the environment.

It's the combination!

Don't forget that, in addition to your eating schedule, exercise also plays a major role in a healthy lifestyle. It is the combination that really keeps you fit. Sport is not only healthy for the body, but also for the mind. Choose a sport that suits you and that gives you positive energy. In short, nutrition is the basis for a healthy and fit body. Be aware of what you eat and spend enough time and attention on your diet, plan ahead. Do you have a busy week? Then meal prepping can offer the perfect solution!
